LEGO unveils Batman Returns Batmobile 76355 with transforming Batmissile feature

LEGO DC Batman Returns Batmobile 76355

LEGO has officially revealed one of its biggest DC launches of the year, and it is aimed squarely at Batman fans who still have a soft spot for Tim Burton's Gotham. The new LEGO DC Batman Returns Batmobile (76355) recreates the long, low-slung car from the 1992 film Batman Returns, and it does not settle for being just another static display model. This 2,269 piece set is built around a transformation function that lets the Batmobile split open to reveal the Batmissile, a feature pulled directly from one of the movie's most memorable chase scenes.

According to the official details shared through The Brick Fan, the set will launch in LEGO Insiders early access on September 1, 2026, before a wider release on September 4. Pricing is set at $229.99 in the US, with regional pricing also listed at GBP 189.99 and EUR 209.99. The model is designed as a collector focused display piece, but it also leans hard into play-inspired engineering with hidden mechanisms and film references worked into the build.

The silhouette is the main attraction here. LEGO has recreated the exaggerated bodywork, jet turbine rear end, opening canopy, and detailed cockpit that made this Batmobile stand apart from other on-screen versions. The official product description also mentions six hidden Easter eggs and a Penguin tracking device tucked into the build, which should give longtime Batman Returns fans a little extra to hunt for once the car is on display.

What really gives 76355 its own identity is the Batmissile transformation. Pressing a button releases the side panels so the vehicle shifts into a narrower escape form hidden inside the larger Batmobile shell. Large LEGO vehicle sets often live or die on whether they feel distinct from earlier releases, and this mechanism is the clearest sign that the design team wanted this one to do more than simply revisit familiar movie material. It is a display set, but it still tries to capture motion, drama, and a very specific cinematic moment.

The minifigure is another talking point. LEGO includes an exclusive Batman minifigure with a new cowl and newly molded cape created for this set. Jay's Brick Blog also highlights that the cowl drapes farther across the torso than usual, giving the figure a different silhouette from standard LEGO Batman releases. That detail may sound small on paper, but for collectors who track every tweak to Batman's look, it is one of the most interesting parts of the reveal.

There is a tradeoff, though. This is very much a premium display-first release, and the set only includes that single Batman minifigure. Fans hoping for Penguin or Catwoman will not find them here, even though Batman Returns is packed with characters who could have made the package feel even richer. Still, LEGO appears to be positioning 76355 as a showcase build for the car itself, with the transformation function and new Batman elements doing the heavy lifting.

That focus makes sense when you look at where this set lands in the broader DC lineup. LEGO has already explored the Burton era with earlier large scale Batman display pieces, but this is the first time the Batman Returns Batmobile has been tackled in LEGO form. For collectors building out a shelf of cinematic Bat-vehicles, that matters. The car is distinct, the source material is iconic, and the Batmissile gimmick gives the model a story to tell even when it is parked.

If you are deciding whether this belongs in your lineup, the answer probably comes down to what you want from a premium LEGO Batman set. If you are after a clean display model with a strong movie connection, exclusive Batman parts, and a genuinely unusual mechanism, 76355 looks like a serious contender. If you want a broader Batman Returns character lineup, you may come away wishing LEGO had gone one step further. Either way, this is not a quiet release. It is a major DC reveal with a lot more personality than the average collector car, and it should be one of the more closely watched September launches in LEGO's 2026 calendar.
